any time of day or night!"
For those sportsmen and women who've been curious about night vision or long tossed around the idea of buying a night vision unit, now is a great time to satisfy that curiosity! The Bushnell 1x20 Tactical Monocular Goggle Scope is a high-tech, cutting-edge Generation 1 night vision goggle that is ideal for sport applications like nighttime wildlife observation, scouting game, camping, caving and spelunking, nighttime fishing or boating, surveillance, or even a technology-assisted competitive game of Capture the Flag under cover of night. The Bushnell Night Vision 1x20 Tactical Monocular has a built-in infrared illuminator with an adjustable-angle eye cup that can also be detached from the headgear mount and used as a nightvision monocular on its own. These night vision goggles use advanced light-gathering technology to provide unparalleled vision in the dark, while a bright light protection circuit automatically turns the power of the nightvision device down or off when exposed to bright light, so as to protect the image intensifier and extend its life. Within 1-2 minutes of being exposed to the unexpected light flash, the Bushnell night vision device recovers and resumes normal operation of night vision. As sport enthusiasts know, limitations on the activities you want to do because of the uncontrollable elements can put a real damper on your life. With this superior Bushnell night vision device, the night no longer dictates when and what you're capable of doing! You can enjoy your favorite sports and activities any time of day or night! The Bushnell 1x20 Tactical Monocular Night Vision Goggle Scope is available now at OpticsPlanet for over 50% off! Get Enlightened with the Palm-Sized Surefire G2 LED Flashlight

"The Surefire G2 LED flashlight is the perfect companion for your car, garage, emergency kit, basement, or purse."
It's amazing how helpful a good flashlight can be. You lost your contact, you dropped your diamond earring in the car, you got caught in the basement during a black-out, you're lost in a shady area of town at night, little Timmy decided it would be fun to deposit his Matchbox cars in the floor vent-- whatever the situation, when you don't have a flashlight handy and you really need one, it's a very frustrating feeling. The Surefire G2 LED flashlight can save you from a lot of those irritating, toe-stubbing, and perilous situations. It's a palm-sized tactical light that really packs a punch, and even if you're not Special Ops, any parent knows that the homefront presents plenty of tactical situations of its own.
This Surefire flashlight lasts literally for thousands of hours and has no filament to burn-out or break. It's virtually indestructible, made of Nitrolon-- a tough, lightweight, abrasion-resistant, corrosion-proof polymer-- and emits a super bright, smooth, pre-focused tactical beam that is four times brighter than a bulky, two D-cell battery flashlight. The Surefire G2 LED is O-ring sealed and totally weatherproof, with a patented switch lockout to prevent accidental activation and a tailcap switch for momentary-on usage when pressed, constant-on when twisted. Two 123A lithium batteries are included with this compact Surefire flashlight. The Surefire G2 flashlight is the perfect companion for your car, garage, emergency kit, basement, or purse.

Get Funky with your Photos

Every once in awhile I stumble across something here at OpticsPlanet that I inexplicably missed before and realize just how cool it is. Lomography cameras are one of those things. With all this high-tech, digital sophistication buzzing around our heads all the time, it's easy to forget what photography looked like before the digital era. Some photographs looked pretty miserable, true; but others looked pretty darn amazing because film cameras imparted spontaneity into our pictures, unplanned and uncontrolled happenings that often resulted in pictures with more personality, and of course there was no option to just delete delete delete all photos that didn't turn out.
I could easily spend a few hours browsing through the galleries at the Lomography website. Lomography offers quirky, affordable, retro film cameras with a lot of character that produce fantastic photos that no digital camera can touch. OpticsPlanet offers several of the funkiest of the bunch at very nice prices so a photographer has plenty of money left over for film. I'm surely way behind the trend that all the cool kids have known about for ages (these cameras are very popular with the free-spirited, non-conformist, world-traveling types), so you'll have to excuse my being a Johnny-come-lately. I confess the Lomography Color Flash Holga Camera Starter Kit for 120 medium format film has been calling my name since I discovered her a couple weeks ago. With a plastic 60/8 optical lense, the Holga produces photos in which colors radiate, total image sharpness is happily MIA, and dreamy vignetting is common, especially on sunny days. Created by Kodak in 1898, the 120 medium-format film that the Lomography Holga calls for has been used by professional photographers for decades, and at four times the size of 35mm film, it results in exceptionally deep and rich colors. With colored filters and an uncoupled advance and shutter, the Lomo Holga is user-friendly and easily manipulated, so you can spend hours expirimenting with different quirks and tricks and yield consistently surprising, unique, funky and beautiful photos.
